The Accessible City Bus, with 36 seated passengers.
It has 2 wheelchairs and 2-4 baby carriages capacity.

The front section has a conventional style.

Mid section is occupied with foldable seats and dedicated to wheelchairs

Side facing seats enable wide and manoeuvrable entrance for wheelchairs and a wide passage for passengers.

I made the rear section more flexible for young passengers and those travelling with baby carriages. This area is also occupied by foldable seats.

The seats are connected to white modules that form the entire wall and floor of the bus.

Here is a detailed view of the modules and seats connection. One can easily switch the parts and customize the bus.

The wheelchair compartment is big enough to host two wheelchairs of 800x1200mm and assistants of the wheelchair users. It can also host a 3 wheeled wheelchair beside a two wheeled wheelchair.

Universal docking system (UDIG) for wheelchairs. The wheelchair user can easily drive in and lock his/her wheelchair without any assistance.

Colour contrast is created for visually impaired people and a better orientation in the bus.

Interior view from front. I used a white spot at the rear and a black spot at the front of the bus; so that one can easily orientate himself in the bus.

Interior view from rear to the front. A spacious interior with good colour contrast. Bus driver is easily seen and can easily control the bus

Entrance from a bus stop. Baby carriages enter from the rear door, while wheelchair users enter from the mid door. This orientation helps to reduce the time spent at the bus stop.

Signs on the doors indicate bus route and also capacity of wheelchairs and baby carriages; so that passengers will be informed of the capacity before getting on the bus.

Entrance through mid door. Wheelchair users get on with the help of the automatic ramp

Entrance from rear door. Parents with prams get on with the help of the lowered floor

In between the seats, there are interactive walls that has a stop button and information of upcoming bus stop and connection buses at that bus stop.

Each handle bar has two stop buttons. One facing to the aisle and the other facing to seated passengers.

The wide windows create a connection between inside and outside of the bus. They celebrate the free transportation service and the openness of this service.
