Goals & Wishes

In order to develop your project, first of all you have to set some goals and some wishes...

Looking at the problem analysis that I made and considering the budget and time of the project, I decided to focus on an interior layout concept for a city bus which will be answering the needs of accessibility and equality. Small touches can be done on the exterior as well, whenever it is needed....

Goals:

1. Step free low floor

2. Dedicated areas for wheelchairs and
prams with a capacity for two wheelchairs

3. Easy in-out flow for prams and wheelchairs without
disturbing the others and without having difficult maneuvers

4. Easy in-out features eliminating high steps and gaps

5. Seat layout which is convenient and
comfortable for elderly and those who have movement disabilities

6. Enhanced orientation for the visually impaired people

7. Better signage and information feedback provided to the user




Wishes:
1. Two prams and two wheelchairs on board



2. A wheelchair compartment higher than
the standards with dimensions of 800x1200mm



3. Enhanced visual contact between the wheelchair and the driver



4. Safety features both for the wheelchairs and the prams




5. A ramp which will be part of the kneeling function
of the bus, wider than the existing standards



6. Visible and reachale stop buttons



7. Reachable handle bars and other features to facilitate movement in the bus



8. Dedicated seats for the intellectually disabled people
